On 5th December 2025, Hilltop Gardens marked a decade of providing exceptional retirement living with a special anniversary event for residents and team members. The celebration also coincided with the 50th anniversary of AX Group, making the occasion even more meaningful.
Founded on the belief that ageing should not mean a loss of comfort, independence, or dignity, Hilltop Gardens was born from a deeply personal mission. As AX Group Founder, Mr Xuereb, explained during his speech at the event, the inspiration came from his own experience when he was seeking a home where his parents could continue to enjoy life to the fullest. “I wanted to create a place where people could continue living in comfort and independence, where every detail, from the architecture to the living spaces, would reflect respect and warmth,” he said.
The event was also attended by Ms Claire Xuereb, Director of Care at AX Group who expressed how the last 10 years seem both a long time and a short time, long enough to build something impactful in our community and short enough to remember vividly the early days.
Ms Xuereb also expressed her deep gratitude towards the management and staff, “you are the daily rhythm of this place. Your energy, your patience, your kindness, and your resilience make Hilltop and Simblija what they are. Thank you for everything you do.” said Ms Xuereb
Over the past ten years, Hilltop Gardens, together with Simblija Care Home, has grown into a vibrant, nurturing community. From spacious, light-filled living areas and beautiful gardens to a chapel at the heart of the village for reflection and gratitude, every aspect of Hilltop was designed to support residents’ wellbeing and foster meaningful connections.
The future is bright, “Ten years is a big milestone. It reflects vision, dedication, and the courage to do things differently, for everyone involved. And as we look to the next ten years, I feel confident. Hilltop and Simblija have very strong foundations and an even stronger community.” said Ms Xuereb.
The anniversary event was a joyous occasion, celebrating not only the achievements of the past decade but also the enduring spirit of community and care that defines Hilltop Gardens. As Hilltop Gardens looks to the future, its mission remains clear: to provide a retirement and care experience that balances independence, comfort, and compassion, ensuring residents can continue to enjoy life to the fullest.
