Dear residents,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself formally as the Head of Care in Simblija Care Home and Hilltop Gardens. I graduated with a 1st Class Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Malta in 2012. Shortly after graduation I ventured abroad to further my education and gain international experience. I completed post graduate studies in key specialist areas which include acute medicine, skin integrity and wound care with the University College Dublin Ireland and University of Toronto, Canada, and Leadership training with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
I have had the opportunity to work in state-of-the-art JCI and Magnet international facilities in both Ireland and the Middle East. I am currently completing a top up master’s degree in skin integrity with the University of Hertfordshire, UK due to a keen interest in skin integrity within the geriatric population. I believe that my experience to date has equipped me with the knowledge to provide care to a diverse population of cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds, lead teams, facilitate quality improvement, promote sustainable change, and promote good health care.
As a professional I value the importance of human interaction and compassion. The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed the nature of our social interactions. The use of protective equipment and distancing measures has influenced our ability to fully comprehend each other’s emotions and thus to effectively interact with one another. It is no surprise that scholars are starting to highlight the social and emotional consequences of COVID-19 on people’s well-being. I believe that our sense of community here in Hilltop Gardens provides us with many opportunities to make a positive impact on each other and ultimately stave off the negative consequences of COVID-19.
As a leader within AX Care I aspire to continue to build upon the companies’ vision and core values to ensure the highest of standards in care in a client eccentric environment.
